In this study, the researchers presented the cases of five patients (four males and one female) admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) between March and April 2020, who developed barotrauma as a complication of COVID-19 pneumonia. This study was recently published in the journal, Cureus. The researchers concluded from the study that the presence of barotrauma in patients infected with COVID-19 is possibly a negative prognostic indicator for poor outcomes.
